News; Will US Vice President extend nuclear protection to Israel(1)

Published: Tuesday 09 March, 2010

In his speech, Biden is expected to confirm arguments supporting the relationship between the United States and Israel, including the United States, in-depth, firmly committed to Israel's security. However, the key question is whether he will publicly announce that the United States is committed to the dissemination of its nuclear umbrella, including Israel, in other words, if the United States would threaten to strike back to possess nuclear weapons, if Iran attacks or attempted attacks against Israeli non-conventional weapons.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently hinted that the state of the United States would friendly countries in the region around the nuclear umbrella, but she was no explicit reference to Israel. Observers believe that such a publicly stated commitment to Biden in Israel, may be the most powerful weapon the U.S. government to persuade Israel to step down, especially since Biden arrived in Jerusalem in particular the weak hand.
The Obama administration, publicly and through diplomatic channels, Iran has on many occasions that the encirclement of sanctions against Iran are gradually strengthened Israel's attacks on the reasons for the argument. An Israeli diplomat has been described as a "mantra of sanctions in this." However, the sanctions, which should be at the peak of the UN Security Council this week to promote the recoil.
An Israeli source said the United States is trying to square its efforts to obtain sanctions against Iran's international mandate recycling. With a strong enforcement regime of sanctions, will not be in the Security Council's support, may not be Russia's support also. The two countries have veto rights, at this stage it is unclear whether Beijing would abstain in the vote severe sanctions. The current members of the Council, Brazil has also refused to cooperate with the United States. On the other hand, symbols or weak sanctions, the Council may adopt, it will not persuade the Iranian government to halt its uranium enrichment program.
Many analysts believe that only by playing in Iran's Achilles heel - the sanctions, to prevent the export of gasoline and other refined oil products in Iran - would force Iran to make concessions, but in the Security Council did not pass the opportunity.
